Following conversations with Balfour Beatty LP an update on resurfacing between Hardwicke Road and Church Lane:
Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd September: no through traffic, very limited access for residents. Contractor Tarmac will resurface the footway. HGVs and the scraping/paving equipment are bulky, and access will be very difficult, but residents may be able to move vehicles with a little patience and warning to give contractors an opportunity to move their equipment out of the way. There will be no access for through traffic.
Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th: no through traffic, no access for residents. The carriageway will be scraped and resurfaced: the carriageway equipment is two-thirds the width of the carriageway (roughly) so passing is all but impossible, and passing places will not be wide enough. The carriageway itself will be scraped-back and uneven.
Diversion route for through traffic: the Parish Council drew attention to the unsuitability of two-way traffic on the narrow single-track U75240 (Church Lane to the Michaelchurch road close to its junction with Hardwicke Road). The Parish suggested alternate one-way traffic on the U75240 controlled by marshals at either end. Tarmac had some concerns about this. As of now, we have no further information, but hope to update tomorrow.
Alternative parking: Cusop Village Hall Trustees have kindly made available parking at the Village Hall. If you wish to take advantage of this offer, please email villagehall@cusop.net with your details and that of your car (registration number) and await their confirmation.
